CES 2012 Smartphone Wrap-Up

If feels like months ago when it was CES 2011, when we saw the first dual core smartphone in the US, the Motorola Atrix 4G, Another year went by and thousands of tech enthusiast roamed through sin city checking out the latest smartphones to come out in 2012. I can not cover everything that was announced but I will get the main attractions of CES 2012.


Galaxy Nexus . . . . . . . . .  for Sprint – The ads that showed up on cnet were true. The Galaxy Nexus will arriving on Sprint and will be Sprint’s first LTE device. It’s packing the same 4.65″ Super Amoled HD, 1.2ghz dual core processor, 5mp camera and will run Ice Cream Sandwich. The Sprint version will also support Google Wallet.

Nokia Lumia 900 – Nokia made it clear that it would invade the US market in 2012. It has already released the Lumia 710 on T-Mobile and has gotten 5 star rating at tmobile.com. Nokia announced the Nokia Lumia 900. It’s basically a giant version of the Lumia 800. It keep the same Amoled ClearBlack Display but jumps to a 4.3″. Exclusive to AT&T, it will run on 4G LTE and will be one of the first 4G LTE Windows Phone. Price and release date unknown.

HTC Titan II – Yes we know what your thinking. “Didn’t the Titan just come out a month ago?” Yes and the sucessor is here bringing 4G LTE and a 16mp camera. It still hold that 4.7″ display and 1.5ghz processor. Again this device will launch on At&t in the near future.

Sony Xperia Ion – Sony is defintly stepping it up. With the Xperia Ion exlusive to AT&T. It features a 4.65″ LCD Display at 720p resolution powered by Sony bravia engine. It will also run on 4G LTE, has a 1.5ghz dual core processor, and 12mp camera.

Sony Xperia S – Sony also introduced the Xperia S. Similar to the Xperia Ion but packed into a 4.3″ display. Carrier and price release in unknown.

Motorola Droid 4 – Verizon launched the Droid 3 in the summer of 2011. Now introducing the Droid 4. The Droid 4 takes some design elements from the Droid Razr. The Droid 4 is the thinnest 4G slider smartphone. Adding 4G LTE, a 1.2ghz dual core processor, 8mp camera, and 4″ qHD display. The device will be launched sometime in February.

Pantech Burst – Pantech has been gaining some ground in the smartphone market. This will be Pantech’s 2nd 4G LTE smartphone. Only this just launch on AT&T Jan. 22. It features a 4″ Super Amoled Display, 1.2ghz dual core Scorpion processor, 5mp camera, 1.3mp front camera. This can be yours for $50 w/ two year contract.

Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD – AT&T seems to be the only carrier launching devices at CES 2012. At&t announced the Skyrocket HD. The HD part comes from the HD Super Amoled Display like what we have seen on the Galaxy Nexus. It has a 1.5ghz dual core procesoor, 1gb RAM, and 4g LTE. The pricing and release date in unknown.

Samsung Galaxy Note – The Galaxy Note is coming to the States. The Note is launching on AT&T and will run on 4G LTE. It has a 5.3″ Super Amoled HD display, 1.5 ghz dual core processor, 1gb Ram, 8mp camera and comes with a unique S Pen. It will run on Android 2.3 with Touchwiz 4.0. The price and release date is unknown.
